You Would Rather Not Sell
The piece carries meaning, or you expect to want it back. A loan keeps ownership with you where an outright sale would not.
SECURED LOANS · BRISBANE
A secured loan allows you to borrow against fine jewellery you would rather not sell. The piece is assessed, documented and held in the workshop safe for the term of the agreement, and returned to you when the loan is repaid.
WHEN A LOAN MAY SUIT
Syna also buys gold outright and offers consignment. Which option suits depends on whether you expect to want the piece back.
The piece carries meaning, or you expect to want it back. A loan keeps ownership with you where an outright sale would not.
A defined, near-term requirement rather than an open-ended one. Terms are agreed in advance and set out in writing.
Fine jewellery, precious metal or graded gemstones. Not every piece is suitable, and suitability is confirmed only after assessment.
Amount, period, costs and the conditions for return are documented before anything is agreed or the piece is left.
HOW THE PIECE IS HELD
Jewellery left as security is photographed and described in detail at intake, sealed, and held in the workshop safe for the term of the agreement. It is not displayed, worn, altered, cleaned or offered for sale while the loan is running.
You receive the same written record we hold, so the condition of the piece at intake is not a matter of recollection on either side.
Fifteen years of workshop practice applies to storage as much as to bench work.
THE PROCESS
Nothing is committed until you have read the terms and decided to proceed.
01
Describe the piece and what you are trying to achieve. Syna will tell you whether a loan is the appropriate option before you travel.
02
The piece is examined in person. Metal, stones, condition and any documentation are considered together.
03
The amount, period, costs and conditions for return are set out in a written agreement for you to read before you decide.
04
Once agreed, the piece is documented, sealed and held in the workshop safe. Identification is required at this point.
05
On repayment under the agreed terms, the piece is returned to you in the condition recorded at intake.
WHAT TO BRING
01
Bring the piece in its current condition. Please do not clean or repair it beforehand.
02
Current government-issued photo identification is required before any secured loan can proceed.
03
Gemstone reports, receipts, prior valuations or repair records where you have them.
04
An idea of the period you have in mind helps shape the discussion.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
This page describes a service. It is general information only and is not financial advice, credit assistance or a recommendation about your circumstances. It is not an offer of credit, and no amount, period or cost is set or implied here.
Any secured loan is subject to assessment of the jewellery, verification of ownership, identification requirements, and a written agreement setting out the full terms. Syna operates under the requirements applicable to this service in Queensland.
If you are unsure whether a loan, an outright sale or consignment suits your situation, please seek independent advice.
OTHER OPTIONS
If you do not expect to want the piece back, selling the gold outright is usually simpler and costs less. If the piece is distinctive and you are willing to wait for the right buyer, consignment may return more than either.
Syna will say so if one of those suits you better. Being told the honest answer is the point of coming to a workshop rather than a shopfront.
MAKE AN ENQUIRY
Describe the jewellery, roughly how many items are involved, any documentation you hold and the period you have in mind. Syna will respond with whether a loan is appropriate and what the next step would be.
PHOTOGRAPHS
Please do not send photographs with this form. Syna will reply with instructions for sharing images securely.

A secured loan requires the jewellery to be assessed and held in person, so the piece must be brought to the workshop. It cannot be arranged remotely.
PRIVATE CONSULTATIONS
Syna works from the workshop by appointment, so the person assessing your jewellery is the person who made and repaired jewellery for fifteen years. Consultations are private and unhurried.
